First FRCR Anatomy Exam: Format, Marking and Preparation

The First FRCR Anatomy exam, also known as the FRCR Part 1 Anatomy module, tests rapid and precise identification of normal anatomy across radiological imaging.

First FRCR Anatomy exam format

Candidates answer 100 image-based questions in 90 minutes. Questions commonly use an arrow to indicate a structure and require an accurate anatomical answer.

Content and marking

Preparation should cover head, neck and spine; thorax and cardiovascular anatomy; abdomen and pelvis; and musculoskeletal anatomy across radiographs, CT, MRI, ultrasound and contrast studies. Responses receive 0, 1 or 2 marks, and precision matters.

Learn anatomy in imaging context, begin active recall early, alternate targeted and mixed question practice, and finish with full timed mock examinations.
